TRUCKBLOGGIN' #12: Day Two

It's 4:25am and Mark and I are again on our way back to NYC. it's too
dark to take a photo with an iPhone camera and I think I'm getting

TRUCKBLOGGIN' #11: Day 1 Conclusion

It's 1:31 am now and we are finally able to go to bed. It's 12 degrees
outside and we have spent the past 5 hours at the unheated Basis Farm
To Chef warehouse in New Paltz unloading and then reloading our truck
for tomorrow's deliveries. I woke up at 6:30 and have been on the road
since 7:15 so it's been a pretty long day, interrupted only by an
hourlong nap I took in our truck from 9:30-10:30 while we waited for
the last of the trucks to arrive (Mark continued working).

A 1:30 am bedtime wouldn't be bad if it weren't followed by a 3:40 am
rise--haa!--so I imagine that tomorrow is going to feel a definitively
wonktarded day. It's definitely been a strange way to spend my
vacation anyway.

TRUCKBLOGGIN' #10: Greenage

As a natural extension of the gentle amusingness of this very long
day, I just spent 15 minutes standing in a circle of a group of eight
male laborers chomping on various leafy foods to determine which
unlabeled box contained the plant "mustard greens"--with none of us
being able to identify a mustard green by sight or even, frankly, by
taste.

Ultimately we decided after pulling up a photo of mustard green on the
Internet that we had in fact found it and that all wad well.

Problem solved, though I am still wondering, after seeing the words
inscribed on the boxes in the photo above: what exactly are "baby
baby" and "meow"?

TRUCKBLOGGIN' #8: Road Food

Quick, you have 2 seconds to guess what food item this is:

Is it a custard?
The brains of Osama bin Laden?
No.

It doesn't matter, really, what it is--the point is that this is the
first time in my life that I have eaten TWICE at Roy Rogers in one
day. Rad/Yikes! I am straight bird-doggin' this shit.

TRUCKBLOGGIN' #5: Chawtastic

Anyone who knows me knows that one of my many mantras is "I'll try
anything once", and how could a trip to a farm to load milk onto a
truck not include an offer to do a little chewing tobacco, right?

Above on the ground you will see the chaw that I held in my mouth for
approximately three minutes before being advised by a ten year old
girl to spit it out so as not to end up like her cousin, who spent a
night puking after his first time chewing.

It was both more intense and more gross than I'd imagined it to be,
but also a worthy experience in the Book of Beaumont Life Actuation.
