Friday, August 21, 2009 Got Something (Need More)  I have now listened to the new three-track Spoon single Got Nuffin many times and am happy to testify that its title track is indeed an excellent and worthy addition to the Spoon oeuvre. Prior to listening, I heard a variety of hate/ZZzzs/mehs, but i'm electing to say Fuck The Haters on this one: "Got Nuffin" is great, immediate, propulsive, in-the-moment Spoon. And not to amp the excitement levels too much, but on some plane it seems to me like a sort of Series of Sneaks 2.0 (Modern Era)--real spiky rock n' roll Spoon that hasn't been seen all that often since the Girls Can Tell transition. I'm not assuming that "Got Nuffin" represents any kind of longtail sea change for the band or anything, but it at least makes me excited about the album they've allegedly got in the works.
