Sunday, June 21, 2009 Megabus Is Nice But They Don't Allow Bikes  Finally made it to Boston after all the rain and silliness but got to Back Bay Station and found out the Megabus doesn't allow bikes because it's a double-decker and has no underneath storage. Gah! Hilariously on Friday morning I called both Boltbus and the Fung Wa Chinatown dudes ahead of time to confirm that they would let me bring my bike; after being reassured by both that, "Yes, duh" I didn't bother calling Mega since I assumed the same would be true. WRONG! PLANNING FAIL! Whoops! Luckily I was able to sweet talk the PT Barnum ticket-taker by telling him that i'd called and they said I could bring the bike, but I had to take the wheels off and load it on after everyone's else's stuff and reassure the man that under no circumstances was anyone but me liable for the care and safety of my cycle. Not a problem, I assured him, and now here I am on the bus sending emails on blogging on my laptop courtesy of the Megabus wifi. Would I recommend Megabus? Yes, to anyone not bringing a bike it is completely awesome--wifi w/power outlets, healthy legroom, tables for laptops, very clean. Just don't bring yr whip. And now, homeward bound.
