Reabeck

I just sent this around my Dude Society Boy's Club but thought all should enjoy:

Jay Reatard covering Beck's "Gamma Ray" on new 7" (single from Modern Guilt album). Available courtesy of Said the Grammophone.

Can't say it's amazing or anything, and this is both a weird song for Beck to choose as a single as well as for him to choose Reatard as a coverer, but whatever. I'm at a point currently where i am lapping up any and all Reatard I can get my hands on

i'm 95% sure none of you have listened to any of the songs from Modern Guilt since i sent around the title track a few months ago, and i will reiterate that the entire album is fantastically mediocre and unexciting... but i do really enjoy that title track as a bizarre straight Spoon rip. I swear to fucking god that's Britt on guitar on this track.

I would be down with Britt and Beck doing a split EP ala Britt and Bright Eyes from 2002 (I love that shit). Make it rain!

And one last Reatard tidbit.

Not sure if any of you have checked out his blog before--it's filled with not just little sweet nothings but also some great Reatard demos (not nearly as substantial as the great Deerhunter/Atlas Sound blog but still), including this fantastic cover of the Pixies' version of "In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)" from David Lynch's Eraserhead.

Check it out here:
